Devlog 103 - Alive Again

Sorry that it's been so long, life is not my best friend usually. It certainly likes to go 'oh hey look, shiny!' too much for my liking. Anyway, got a lot to show this time around so enjoy the devlog!

I have been making progress on the game once more, I have designed some busts for the game’s main characters and even made some facesets with them.

One of the biggest things I have tackled recently is the update to the Corescript of the engine to 1.6, I am still testing the game but early signs are positive. Nothing major has broken as far as plugins but that will require through testing. I made this upgrade in a bid to put to bed a long standing bug that freezes the visuals of the game seemingly at random. I have no idea if I solved it but I will keep testing and playing the game until I know for sure. If this didn’t work then I will be looking into a particular option. Though, I might be tempted to say ‘screw it’ and upgrade SRMT to MZ if I absolutely cannot curb its issues. If I go this route it will be after the Demo update is released.

I would really rather not ship another update if the baleful shade that is the freezing glitch persists, but if this Corescript update fails to solve it I will plan to migrate to MZ after the Demo update. I will have more for you all on this when I know for sure.

As far as recent progress in game, I have been working on expanding the status menu system and adding more info about the characters in it. A glaring flaw in my design of things is apparent now as well in the form of element status and resistance, and so on. I will be taking a more in depth look at that as time continues.

I have also been tweaking the scenes in the game, making characters move more and writing notes on pictures I could add. There has been a lot of minor errors I have corrected in the dialogue as well.

My current aim is to add a Markstone tutorial, continue refining systems and story flow, and combat experience improvements.

In particular my aim is to make different moves have more pronounced and varied skill speeds as to add more layers to the experience. Ritualist already has some but many of the other classes could use them to change up their pace.

With any luck I will have some substantial progress in the works soon.
