Midweek Devlog #3 Never Saw it Coming

Hey all, I'm here with another devlog! Things have been shall we say, 'a bit crazy'.  On Sunday I had my first ever unprompted playthrough on YouTube live happen, courtesy of d757gaming. He had lots of cool things to say, and I'll be working through the feedback in the next couple weeks.

Then on Tuesday HawkZombie streamed the game as well, it was a great time and it also helped a lot with even more feedback and perspective.

With all of this excitement, I've had a fair number of hours of joy this week as I reviewed D7's playthrough and watched Hawk live. It was time well spent, as even though I've gotten less ground work done, these two streams have really clarified some issues and helped me understand some other issues people brought up that I didn't quite understand fully. A huge thanks and shoutout to these two madlads for taking the time to check out the game. They both missed some stuff here and there but they still were fairly diligent all things considered.

I'm continuing to make progress on the battleback I showed last week, and am working on the sprites for Morgan and Wina still. I'm quite a ways off from having walking sprites in game but I'm getting there.

I've also been working on a few things in the engine, such as messing with XP and Gold amounts, and probably the next thing to do will be doing some rebalancing work. I also experimented with an enemy sprite for the first time, and it's one everyone knows and dearly loves. I'm sorry, I couldn't stop laughing as I said that. Here's the Boiling Crawler WIP design. I'm not totally on board with him, I'm going to try something else, but I wanted to share it all the same.

I do want to state while I'm here that my intention as a developer is to create challenging experiences both in story and in gameplay, and I mostly aim toward making an experience I would be happy with. I understand the need for my vision to be balanced with the Player's, so getting to see how people feel about it is incredibly important to me. I encourage you all to forward any feedback to me, I love hearing what people have to say and it really does help me focus on issues that need more attention.

Last bit of news: I've talked with an artist who I think will be a good fit for the style I want to go for in Tears of Morganna for character and story art, I don't believe they will have something for a little while however. If all works out with them, I'll be requesting more from them and featuring what comes out when they are done. They'll probably be the one I contact for the final Titlescreen art as well.

With all that said it's time to shift gears back to main project work, but I'm going to prioritize getting stuff made for you guys next week for you all to really dig into. I hope you all have a great day!

I certainly will do my best. It's certainly a pleasure working on the project, I'm looking forward to building it up into the main game form as time goes on.
