Midweek Devlog #1 - Wild Ride
Well this has certainly been a week. From launch to today we've had a great launch thus far. We did have issues that needed to be addressed, but we've bounced back and continuing to make progress. So here is how devlogs will work. For those unfamiliar, my main project's devlog is updated every Friday. For side projects, I will make one on Wednesday. With that out of the way, let's talk actual progress.
First off, Sprites.
These are the current sprite designs for Wina's human form. They were one of the first sprites I started working on this week. I've been making various tweaks as time goes on, but this is more or less her planned design. I've yet to start walk cycles on this or any of the other sprites, that will be a bit later.
Morgan sprite. I'm not sure what my feelings for this one are. Would love input on this one. Like the other designs, only frame is this one.

Wina Elemental Form (Awakened Blaze). This doesn't have any other frames. For this one, I wanted to invoke a feathered design to tie in the character's various themes into her design.
Wina Wild Gold/Flame of Disaster form. No frames for this one either. The theming of the Flame of Disaster form is a noble Phoenix. This took a bit to iron out an exact concept.
Morganna Sprite. No frames for this one. The design is mostly faithful to the MZ concept. Gave her some extra details to make it apart from the old.
So with those out of the way, let's talk about future plans.
I want to get some walking animations and more frames made for the existing sprites. Once that happens I want to experiment with side view battler designing. In that respect, I'm either going to go full animated (with every sprite for everything) or partial/no animation style. This will be an experimental period while I riddle out what I like more.
I've never made sideview enemies let alone actors, so this will be an experience. We won't be getting into main game development for probably the first good couple weeks or month or two. We have to see.
My final topic is concerning official character art, I will be sketching drawings of the cast, and then selecting an artist to do the official designs. I already have one person in mind, but I am open to contacts regarding the position.
